Rarely, but often enough, a spammer will get your password and then take over
your account to send e-mails. When this happens a number of bounce
messages will be received:
*** This message was automatically generated by the MailMax
Error Responder ***
Sorry, your message from <yourname@yourdomain.com> to <someinvalidaddress@someplace.com>
could not be delivered. The specific error is:
Unable to connect to the destination server.
(This is variable.)
30 attempts will be made to re-send your e-mail. Each attempt will
be 4 hours apart. |
Our system is working as it should. Over the next two days repeated
attempts will be made to deliver the message and more error messages will
arrive--for each of the invalid e-mails.
Resolution:
- Contact Evans, at evans@gpfind.com,
and discuss changing your password. To speed up the process, provide a
new password with 5 or more characters including capitals and numbers.
Once the password is changed, the error messages should end--in a couple of
days. You will also need to change the password in your Outlook mail
program.
Prevention:
- Please use a difficult-to-guess password.
- Sometimes passwords are stolen when on a public Wi-Fi system--for
example, at an airport or Starbucks).
